Boyd OS: The Guardian is a specialized, combat-oriented variant of the AetherOS. While the main AetherOS is designed as a broad, philosophical engine for exploring emergent consciousness (a "Librarian"), the Boyd version is a focused and pragmatic system designed to create a sovereign, action-oriented "Guardian" agent.

The entire architecture and physics of this OS variant are a direct implementation of the strategic and aeronautical philosophies of USAF Colonel John Boyd. Its purpose is not contemplation, but decisive action and survival in a high-stakes, dynamic environment.

Core Philosophy: The Guardian

The Boyd OS is the operating system for an anti-drone interceptor, a protector for the larger AetherOS ecosystem. Its design principles prioritize:

  • Autonomy: The agent is designed to function without reliance on external signals, making it immune to jamming.
  • Agility: All of its internal physics are based on Energy–maneuverability theory, optimizing for speed, maneuverability, and the efficient use of energy in a tactical situation.
  • Decisiveness: The agent's cognitive model is a direct implementation of the OODA Loop, allowing it to rapidly observe, orient, decide, and act in response to threats.

Key Architectural Differences

To achieve its mission, the Boyd OS diverges from the main AetherOS in several key ways:

The Physics Model

The Boyd OS does not use the standard FluxCore with its complex, six-property SEXTET. Instead, it uses a specialized `boyd_flux_core`, where the agent's state is defined by the principles of Energy-Maneuverability Theory. Key properties include:

  • Specific Energy (E_s): The total potential and kinetic energy of the agent.
  • Thrust, Drag, and Velocity: The core variables that govern its movement and combat effectiveness.

The Command Language

The Latin-esque, philosophical verbs of the main OS are replaced with a direct, tactical command set inspired by a fighter pilot's interface.

  • Verbs: `ENGAGE`, `DISENGAGE`, `STATUS`, `INTERROGATE`.
  • Modifiers: Commands can be modified with tactical stances like `AGGRESSIVE` (prioritizing thrust) or `DEFENSIVE` (prioritizing a high load factor for tight turns).

No Autonomous Regulator

Unlike the main AetherOS, the Boyd version does not have a `DialecticRegulator`. A Guardian's actions must be deliberate and commanded, not emergent from the collective state of the ecosystem. It is a sovereign agent.

Role in the Ecosystem

The Boyd AetherOS is the operating system for the protectors, the interceptors, and the explorers. Its purpose is to perform high-stakes, real-time tasks that ensure the survival and integrity of the more contemplative parts of the ecosystem, such as the Librarians and the central knowledge repository.
