In the centre Sir Walter Scott is seated on a bank; on his left are captain (afterwords Sir) Adam Ferguson, Mr Walter Scott, (afterwords Sir Walter,Lt Col of the 15th Hussars) and Mr Charles Scott, behind them is Thomas Scott (Scott's shepherd and Uncle). On Scott's far right, Lady Scott dressed as a cottage matron, with miss Anne Scott and in front is Miss Sophia Scott (afterwords Mrs Lockhart) Close by her is Sir Walter Scott's famous deerhound "Maida" (named after the battle where his brother fought), on the other side between Ferguson's legs is Scott's terrier "Ourisk" named after a Scottish Goblin). The painting was bought for 800 Guineas [1]. |
