File information
Description English:

Pictured is HMS Brocklesby (M33) off the coast of Bahrain whilst deployed on Op KIPION.

HMS Brocklesby is one of eight Hunt-class minehunters in the Royal Navy which make up Second Mine Countermeasures Squadron (MCM2).

As the name suggests, her primary purpose is to seek out and neutralise enemy mines using Sonar technology and a combination of highly trained Mine Clearance Divers and the Seafox unmanned underwater vehicle.

Brocklesby’s glass-reinforced plastic hull – one of the largest of its kind – helps protect her from mines.

In addition to her Mine Counter-Measures activities, HMS Brocklesby has a secondary role as an offshore patrol vessel, undertaking coastal patrol duties around the UK and abroad. *Organization: Royal Navy *Object Name: KIPION-OFFICIAL-20210103-UKMCC-MCM *Category: MOD *Keywords: M33, HMS Brocklesby, HMNB Portsmouth, Hunt Class, MCMV, Ocean, Water, Scenery, Landscape, Environment, Terrain, Royal Navy, Equipment, Surface Fleet, Mine Counter measure vessels, Operations, Op KIPION, Ongoing Maritime Presence, Commercial Shipping Protection, Gulf, Bahrain *Country: Bahrain
